Contrarian Resource #3: Moneyball

July 11, 2012

Moneyball is the movie based on the book based on the tactics of Billy Beane.  Billy is the General Manger of the Oakland A’s, one of baseball’s poorest teams.  Yet on an unfair playing field he created a new way of thinking.  It went against tradition, the prevailing wisdom of the day, and popular opinion.

But he won.

See the parallel?

The Contrarian Planter can’t plant a church in a certain way because popular opinion says so or because that’s how things have always been done.  You must blaze a new trail, find a new way of doing things.

People will call you crazy.  Some won’t support you.  But at the end of the day, if it works, that’s all that matters.

If you haven’t watched Moneyball, watch it tonight.
